Facing Pages 2014

Independent Magazines Biennale shows how it can be done

We are glad to to present our new partner »facing pages« and to point its conference out. From 29 March through 7 April the third edition of Facing Pages will take place in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Facing Pages is the leading biennale dedicated to independent magazines. It offers a symposium, exhibition, side-programme and space for meeting like-minded people. The biennale brings hundreds of magazines and magazine-lovers together the Netherlands.

Like previous editions, the symposium will be the beating heart of the biennale bringing the audience a nice mix of critically acclaimed editors and up-and-coming creatives. This time Facing Pages will explore two important attitudes; Activism and Escapism.

A selection of the first confirmed speakers: Cathy Olmedillas (Anorak), Peter Bil’ak (Works That Work), Simon Esterson (Eye Magazine), Besa Luci (Kosovo 2.0) Ibrahim Nehme (The Outpost) and Cosimo Bizzarri (Colors Magazine). Miriam van Ommeren (De Optimist, Kamermans Kermis, Incubate) will be the moderator.

Besides the symposium there will be an extensive exhibition, curated by Joost van der Steen and William van Giessen (O.K.Parking) They curated a broad selection of the most beautiful, controversial and uncommon magazines in the world. Besides the main exhibition, there will be smaller exhibitions, exclusively curated by Athenaeum Newscentre and Magpile.

The symposium takes place on March 28th & 29th 2014 in Arnhem, The Netherlands.
