David Duchovny on Vacation
Speaker
In my lecture I will present various examples of my work for magazines, newspapers and publishing houses as well as my zine “David Duchovny on Vacation.” Using these examples, I will try to define the real meaning of freedom in the field of illustration for the profession. Today, illustrators are in a position to combine work and life at virtually any place in this world as long as there is an internet connection. At the same token, that freedom is often linked to monetary risks. Which is why one occasionally takes on a job while travelling.
In addition, I will examine the mechanisms of self-censure resulting from anticipated expectation and I will take a closer look at why illustrations often turn out to be better when a high degree of freedom is combined with good general conditions set by the client.
