Malte Brenneisen (*1986) and Urs Spindler (*1988) are working as journalists and entrepreneurs in Hamburg, Germany. Two years ago, together with their brothers and two colleagues, they founded “Die Brueder” (lit.: “The Brothers”), a combination of editorial office and micro agency.
In addition, Malte and Urs are in charge of research at indiemags.de, the archive of independent magazines. Their love of publications produced outside mainstream publishing houses led them to organise the first “Indiecon – a Festival for Independent Magazines”, last year in Hamburg. In September 2014, this two-day symposium brought together more than 100 makers of magazines. On stage, in workshops and during lectures, the topics revolved around the main question “What is Indie?” – an issue discussed by participants such as Oliver Gehrs (Dummy), Gabriele Fischer (brand eins) and Kai Brach (Offscreen) (www.wasistindie.de).
For 2015, Malte and Urs are planning on organising another Indiecon together with “Die Brueder”. To this end, they will present their ideas regarding Indiemags.de and the Indiecon2015 for the very first time at this year’s QVED.
